Must-Know Clauses In Your Dubai Rental Contract

Read Before You Sign

Becoming a tenant in Dubai is no different than becoming a tenant anywhere else in the world. You need to sign a lease or tenant’s agreement with the landlord before you move in.

The key to signing a Dubai agreement is the same as well. Make sure you read all the clauses and understand them before you place your signature on the document.

This is especially true for Dubai as the rental laws in that city are very different from rental laws elsewhere. There are some must-know clauses you need to be aware of so you fully understand the tenancy agreement.

What Should Be Included In The Tenancy Contract In Dubai?

Here are some of the key pieces of information you need to make sure are in this agreement:

  • The landlord’s name and contact details
  • The renter’s name and contact details
  • Property information: full address, building name, location, and size
  • Plot number
  • DEWA premise number
  • Rent amount
  • The contract’s period
  • The signing date of the contract
  • Security deposit
  • Payment conditions

All of this information helps guarantee the landlord and tenants’ rights. Also, you need to make sure that the agreement is registered with RERA the agency in charge of the rules for leasing in Dubai. Plus, a new step has been added to the registration process.

It seems now that both the landlord and tenant need to register the contract under the Ejari system. This is a mandatory step so do not let it be excluded for any reason.
