La Mer Dubai is a waterfront destination in Jumeirah 1 developed by Meraas, combining a beach, a marina, leisure and dining. Meraas describes it as a world-class waterfront with Mediterranean-style architecture, and it is also home to residential projects such as Port de La Mer and Jumeirah Asora Bay. This guide explains what La Mer Dubai is, what Meraas says you can do there, what we can and cannot say about cafes and restaurants, and which nearby areas to consider if you want to live close to it.
La Mer is a master development on the Jumeirah 1 coastline. Meraas, the developer, calls it a world-class waterfront destination with a mix of beach, marina, leisure and dining options, and says it has good connections to popular parts of the city and to the international airports. A Meraas article describes it as an evolution of Jumeirah 1, a stretch of coast that was once simply sand, and presents it as a place where leisure, dining and marina life sit together.
It is worth separating two uses of the name. For visitors, La Mer means the beachfront and leisure destination. For buyers and tenants, it also means the residential communities built around it, each with its own name.
La Mer is in Jumeirah 1, on Dubai's Arabian Gulf coastline. The Meraas pages we opened do not give driving times or road directions, so check a map app for your route. The wider coastal area is covered on our Jumeirah page.
According to Meraas, residents and guests can use beach access, beachfront dining, licensed restaurants, live entertainment, swimming pools and beach services at J1. The development also has a marina and yacht club, described as having a berth capacity of more than 190, and a promenade with boutiques and gourmet dining. Meraas lists amenities for residents too, including a gym, landscaped gardens, outdoor sports areas and retail outlets.
| Feature | What Meraas says |
|---|---|
| Beach | Beach access, beachfront dining and beach services at J1 |
| Marina | A marina and yacht club with more than 190 berths |
| Dining | Licensed restaurants and a promenade with gourmet dining |
| Leisure | Live entertainment, swimming pools and outdoor sports areas |
| Style | Mediterranean-inspired, low rise buildings rather than glass towers |
This is one of the most searched questions about the area, and we answer it carefully. The Meraas pages we opened describe the dining only by type: plant-based cafes, fine dining, gourmet dining on the promenade and licensed restaurants. They do not name individual venues, and venues open, close and change hands. Rather than list names we cannot verify from the operator, we suggest checking the current directory on Meraas's own La Mer pages or the destination's official channels before you plan a meal.
What you can expect, going by the operator's own description, is a mix of casual cafes, sit down restaurants and beach dining in a pedestrian setting by the sea.
Because the operator's pages do not give hours or parking details, build a little flexibility into your plan. Go for the late afternoon so you can see the beach in daylight and stay into the evening for dinner. Book a table in advance for weekends if you have a specific restaurant in mind, and check whether any entertainment you want is running that day. If you are visiting with children or older relatives, ask the venue about step free access and shade before you arrive.
It also helps to think of La Mer as a walk rather than a single venue. A promenade, a marina and a beachfront are linked, so you can wander between them, and the Mediterranean style streets are designed for people on foot. Wear comfortable shoes and bring sun protection, because shade between buildings varies through the day. If you plan to stay for sunset, arrive early enough to settle in, and keep a plan for the journey home, since evenings are when visitor numbers usually peak on a coastal promenade.
The Meraas pages we opened do not state an entry fee, parking charge or opening hours for the destination, so we do not quote any. Individual restaurants, pools and beach services set their own prices and rules. Confirm current arrangements with the operator before you go.
The Meraas pages give no transport directions. Because La Mer is on the Jumeirah 1 coast, most people travel by car or taxi, but check route and parking options in a map app, and allow extra time on weekend evenings. If you are staying in a nearby area, a short taxi ride may be easier than parking.
Meraas lists several residential projects under La Mer. As shown on its La Mer page on 4 November 2026:
| Project | Homes | Status on the Meraas page |
|---|---|---|
| Solaya | 4 and 5 bedrooms and penthouse, from AED 13.80 million | Available |
| Jumeirah Asora Bay | 4 to 6 bedrooms and penthouse, from AED 49.00 million | Available |
| Sur La Mer | 3 to 5 bedrooms | Sold out |
| La Mer Maisons | Not stated on the page | Sold out |
| Port de La Mer | 1 to 5 bedrooms | Sold out |
These are the developer's launch prices and availability, not resale values. For recorded resale prices in the wider district, use the Dubai Land Department sold prices on our Jumeirah page. For a guide to buying from a developer, see what off-plan property in Dubai is.
Sea air and salt affect buildings, so the quality of maintenance matters. Ask for the service charge breakdown and what it covers, and find out how often the facade, windows and communal areas are maintained. Check the direction the home faces, how much noise reaches it from the promenade and the road, and whether the parking allocation suits your household. Our guides to service charges and maintenance fees and parking in Dubai buildings list the questions to ask.
For a resale purchase, ask for the title deed details and any outstanding charges, and have the home inspected before handover. Our snagging and handover guide explains what a proper inspection covers, which is especially useful for a newer waterfront building.
If La Mer is out of budget or sold out, the surrounding coast and city areas give alternatives. All of the pages below carry sold prices and current listings.
La Mer is low rise and Mediterranean in style, which sets it apart from the towers of other waterfront districts. If you want a high rise apartment with beach access instead, our guide to Dubai properties with beachfront access compares the choices, and top waterfront properties in Dubai looks at the luxury end.
People who want a walkable, beach oriented lifestyle are the obvious fit: you can step out to dining, the sea and the marina without a long drive. It may suit you less if you need to be in the business districts daily, because the commute depends on the route and the hour. Compare it honestly against your daily routine. If your priority is schools and space, the family villa communities in our family villa guide may be a better match, and if you want a lower entry price, a smaller apartment in a neighbouring area could give you the same beach access for less.
We do not make claims about returns or growth. What we can say is that homes close to the sea tend to suit people who value a lifestyle setting and can accept the trade-offs: busy weekends, parking and a higher entry price. Decide by visiting at the times you would actually be there. If you rent, our tenant guide explains the steps, and if you buy, read buying property in Dubai as a foreigner.
